Welcome to Clydebuilt Puppet Theatre

Firmly established (since 1987), CLYDEBUILT are one of Scotland's leading puppet theatre companies.

The company retains the original core members: Stephen Smart and Leigh McCalister and tour throughout the UK and Europe.  Clydebuilt have also toured to the Middle East, and visited China in 2008 and 2009, we have also been invited back for 2010.

Our work is very visual and reaches a wide audience.  We have a very varied programme and can adapt shows and workhops to suit your requirements. We have shows and workshops to go with school projects and put creativity at the very heart of our artistic programme.

We tour to: Theatres, Festivals, Schools and Village Halls.

 

INTERNATIONAL TOURING ENQUIRIES WELCOME.

Our shows travel with us as luggage and weigh around 23 kilos each.  We can either fly to a venue or drive if it is within Europe.

THEATRES AND FESTIVALS

The company is very experienced and has a wide touring circuit taking in many theatres throughout the country including Malvern Theatres, The Tricycle Theatre, London and The Lowry, Salford.

The company also regularly performs at the biggest UK Puppet Festival - THE PUPPET ANIMATION FESTIVAL, SCOTLAND (25+ performances in this festival 2010).

SCHOOLS - We tour regularly to schools with a variety of shows and workshops.  We are happy to fit in with your requirements.

In 2010 we are preparing for the new Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and will adapt our work  to suit the needs of schools.  English schools - please talk to us about your requirments.

 

NEWS November 2009

Clydebuilt have had another really successful trip to China with 'FINDERS KEEPERS and 'CALLOF THE LOON BIRD'.  We also took an extensive workshop programme, specially prepared for each individual school.  As well as working at the British School of Beijing  and the British School at Guangzhou, we also performed at Dulwich College Beijing.

FESTIVAL PACKAGES

Shows and workshop packages are available.

ROCK BOTTOM (THEATRE 4 ONE) is very suitable for Festivals combined with other performances.

The majority of our shows are not suitable for outside, but we are have developed a

'THEATRE 4 ONE show titled 'ROCK BOTTOM .  Lasting 3 minutes long this is a flexible piece of theatre for one person at a time, along with interested onlookers.  This show can be performed in almost any space, inside or out, weather permitting and is suitable for festivals and any one else interested in this unusual form of puppet theatre.
