EDUCATION – THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Puppetry is a marvellous way to learn a combination of skills – from design/ making/writing/performing and combine skills together in a unique and special way. Clydebuilt have spent 2020 updating all our educational workshops for online learning with a combination of film and education packs on Rod Puppet Making, Simple Shadow Puppet Making, Dinosaur packs and much more. SHADOW PUPPETRY

Shadow puppetry is ideal for a wide age range. Children or adults. Children aged five upwards can design, make and manipulate their own characters.

Skills covered:
– Drawing (designing your own puppet)
– Motor skills (cutting out and sticking)
– Problem solving; (making puppets that work effectively)
– Drama skills
– Play with different light sources from projectors to moving lights

DROP IN PUPPETRY SESSIONS FOR FAMILY EVENTS

These sessions are very flexible – they can be part of an event/in addition to a show and can be any length required from 1 hour – 4 hour sessions.
We can cover many different themes from
GINGERBREAD MEN to ANIMALS to PIRATES and SUPERHEROES

ROD PUPPETRY FOR AGE 6 UPWARDS AND TEACHERS

For the more in depth project (minimum 1 day session) Clydebuilt can help devise and make a working rod puppet that moves as well as any of our professional puppets, yet is very light and easy to work.

This project works best with at least 3 x 2 hour sessions.
Rod Puppetry now has a film on every aspect of Rod Puppet making so your school can do it at your own pace. The 20 minute film covers making Rod Puppet Heads from socks, Bodies from scrap fabric and Costume making from old clothes. The film is for sale for schools/venues to access, but is not in the public domain. Please contact Leigh for more details.

PUPPETRY MANIPULATION SESSIONS

Clydebuilt have a huge variety of puppets and share a few of the secrets and skills needed to make puppets work.

Steve Smart of Clydebuilt is a master puppeteer and shares the secrets of puppetry movement with everyone. Find out how a marionette is made and why the strings are different for each puppet.
